About the DAJV |

What is the DAJV and what does it do?
The German-American Lawyer’s Association e.V. (DAJV) promotes and advances interest in and knowledge of American law, with which we are constantly in contact, whether it be through our studies, in the context of our careers or even through traveling. The DAJV aims to offer German jurists an opportunity both for cultural exchange as well as for deepening their experiences of America. American jurists, on the other hand, will profit from easier access to the German legal world.
- Through lectures and discussion round tables, the DAJV seeks to compare trends in German and American legal development, contributing in turn to the legal-political debate in both nations. These events partly take place in a central location, but a great many are organized by our regional groups. Numerous Practice Groups also offer members the chance to gain a more thorough understanding of specific, specialized legal fields.

- For those who are either interested in American law or in studying in the United States, the DAJV offers diverse publications. In particular, we recommend the DAJV-Newsletter, with four issues per annum.
- The DAJV promotes and funds exchange programs to the United States, both for students and articled clerks (Referendare).
- The work of the DAJV is overseen by a board of directors, which is comprised of a central directorship as well as other regional directorships. Our head office in Bonn-Bad Godesberg supports the board of directors in its work.
