Introduction to the American legal education system, case law teaching style, exam structure, and degrees awarded.

“Studying in the USA – Why?”
Five speakers from academia, economics, social science, government institutions, and international law firms share their perspectives and experiences with US legal education.

Organizational Preparation for a US Masters Study Program
Discussion will cover time frame, application criteria, financing and scholarships, language tests (TOEFL), recommendation letters, visa questions, and summer programs.

The Bar Exam

Graduate Legal Education from the American Perspective
Discussion will cover German lawyers in the US judicial system, application criteria, certification, academic advisory and thesis, special problems for foreign students.

The Application
Tips and tricks for the application, especially the personal statement and recommendation letters.

Alternative Courses of Study

Dinner Program: “Meet the Law Firms”
Representatives from six top international firms will share perspectives and answer questions in a small and amiable setting.
