What’s New with 28 U.S.C § 1782?

Join us for an in-depth update on the most recent 28 U.S.C § 1782 decisions. The circuits are currently split on two aspects of 28 U.S.C §1782:

  1. Extraterritoriality in the context of In re del Valle Ruiz, 939 F.3d 520 (2d Cir. 2019) vs. Kestrel v. Joy Global, 362 F.3d 401 (7th Cir. 2004).
  2. Arbitration with regard to the decision in Abdul Latif Jameel Transp. Co. v. FedEx Corp., 939 F.3d 710 (6th Cir. 2019) and In re Hanwei Guo, No. 18-MC-561 (JMF), 2019 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 29572 (S.D.N.Y. Feb 25, 2019).

Speaker: Megan Deardorff is a U.S. attorney with over six years of corporate litigation experience. She specializes on complex German-US litigation and compliance matters, including FCPA. Megan Deardorff has also extensive experience in civil litigation and criminal defense with a main focus on corporate criminal investigations. Before joining Noerr LLP as a support lawyer, Megan Deardorff worked as an associate attorney at Neal & Harwell, PLC in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Lunch-Session is aimed at legal counsels, professionals, law clerks, PhD candidates and law students. DAJV membership is not required.
