About us
The University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School is a world leader in legal education, uniquely equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in today’s legal marketplace, wherever their career aspirations and intellectual interests may take them. Penn Carey Law’s LLM program is over a century old and recognized among the best, attracting top students from around the world. The program is a one-year, full-time course of study in advanced legal topics designed primarily for lawyers trained outside the United States and includes our signature five-week Pre-Term Program. During their year, students select courses from an extensive curriculum of specialized courses and seminars, taking courses alongside our upper level JD students. Penn Carey Law grants a generalized LLM that allows each student to design their own curriculum, enabling them to focus on subjects that best suit their needs. LLM students are also eligible to enroll in the Wharton Business and Law Certificate, a custom designed program for our students, taught by Wharton faculty and industry experts selected for their teaching skills, subject expertise, and ability to offer applied concepts and examples to participants. The Law School’s campus is state-of-the-art, with four fully interconnected buildings surrounding a green courtyard. Students are steps away from the amenities of the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League institution in the heart of the East Coast. Come join us!

Scholarships / Financial Aid Information
As set forth on the Tuition and Fees page, attending law school in the United States is a significant financial investment.
We are proud to offer a variety of University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School Graduate Program Scholarships, including: General Merit Scholarships, Human Rights Scholarships, Fulbright Partner Scholarships (Belgium/Luxembourg, Ireland and France); Kübler Scholarship; Imasogie Scholarship; Duke Scholarship; and Thouron Scholarship (University wide).
Many of our students receive scholarships from their employers, governments, or another third party. Other students are able to pay their expenses with their own savings or rely on family members for loans. Still others are able to receive loans or other financial aid from their home country.
Because our ability to award assistance is limited, we encourage prospective students to seek Other Funding Sources as early as possible.
