All applicants are eligible for scholarship consideration, no separate application is required. We offer merit-based scholarships and housing stipends in various amounts, including up to full tuition. Internationally-educated applicants must apply via LSAC and will be required to provide the following:

Curriculum and Specializations

Our degrees feature flexible curriculum and allow students to specialize their degree by enrolling in an optional certificate at no additional cost. We offer certificates in Business Law, Entertainment Law, Transnational Law and Business, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Technology and Entrepreneurship Law as part of our on campus degrees. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to enroll in bar courses to prepare for the New York, California, Washington, and District of Columbia bar exams. Students may enroll in a bar track concurrently with a certificate and degree. Please note that bar track availability varies by degree. We provide support for students throughout the bar registration and application process, and also offer an exclusive bar prep workshop series to prepare students for the exam.

Our Graduate & International Programs office provides dedicated support to our international and graduate students, beginning with the application process and continuing through their time as students to become alumni.

We feature three Career Advisors who exclusively serve our graduate candidates and offer a variety of career support including workshops, resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, and participation in LLM-only job fairs.

Additionally, we offer three Academic Advisors who work with students to assist them with planning their curriculum to meet their goals, including selecting courses for their degree, bar and certificate tracks.

Finally, our graduate students may participate in our Academic Excellence workshop series, which is designed to prepare students for success in a U.S. law school.

Study Program

Our Master of Laws (LLM) focuses on the U.S. legal system, with a flexible and far-reaching curriculum that prepares international students for leadership roles in the increasingly globalized marketplace. The full-time, one-year LLM provides you with foundational skills and knowledge that are immediately applicable to real-world legal practice.

Scholarships

USC Gould School of Law offers highly selective merit scholarship opportunities to outstanding students who represent the exceptional quality and diversity within our Graduate & International Programs student body.

All applicants to our programs are automatically considered for each of our scholarship awards and no additional documents are required. No separate application is necessary, but you are welcome to submit a brief letter with your degree application to highlight your qualifications.

Scholarship offers are released via email at the time of admission.

Application requirements

To qualify for LLM admission, you must have earned your first law degree (LLB or the equivalent) outside of the United States. However, you may be considered for admission if you provide evidence of recent legal work experience and hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in another field (from outside of the U.S.).

If you are currently earning your law degree and will complete it prior to the start of your LLM studies, you may be admitted but will be required to complete certain continuing registration requirements. You must submit final transcripts showing your degree was awarded before you begin the LLM.
