Study Program

UCLA School of Law has a reputation for excellence throughout the world. Consistently ranked in the top tier of law schools in the nation, ours is the premier law school in Southern California. And, as judged by academic peers, the university itself consistently ranks in the top half-dozen in the country. In addition to having the flexibility to choose between a general, specialized, or self-designed course of study, LL.M. students can take one course outside of the law school at another department at UCLA for credit towards the degree, such as at the Anderson School of Management, or the School of Theater, Film and Television. With a comprehensive selection of courses across a wide variety of disciplines, there is no shortage of curricular offerings from which UCLA Law students can choose. Those interested in supplementing their rigorous legal education with practical, hands-on training have the opportunity to gain real-world experience in clinics, externships, and other experiential classes. LL.M. students can also take the courses required in order to gain eligibility to sit for the California, New York, or other state bar exams.

All applicants receive consideration for the award, which is both merit- and need-based, and no separate application is required. UCLA also provides a variety of resources and information about scholarship, fellowship, grant, and loan opportunities through private, non-profit, and governmental sources. We strongly encourage international students to seek financial aid funds from additional/alternate sources in their home countries.
