What we offer our members
The DAJV Internship Service has mediated contacts between young lawyers and American law firms and authorities for more than 20 years.
From internships to research stays, our first-hand accounts give invaluable insight into what could be your time in the U.S.
The mentoring program offers young lawyers individual support in planning and carrying out a university or professional stay in the USA. Please contact us for more information.
Master studies in the USA
A master's degree in the USA is an important prerequisite for many students and trainee lawyers for a successful career start. We are an important partner and pioneer in this regard.
The DAJV expert groups serve to deepen specialist thought and discussion by offering our members an exciting platform for debating current legal and related issues in expert circles amongst a lively exchange of ideas.
DAJV realizes about 40 international, national and regional events, conferences, seminars, fairs, excursions and celebrations, like e.g., numerous 4th of July and Thanksgiving gatherings every year.

“For 50 years, DAJV has been building bridges and fostering mutual understanding between different legal cultures. We provide a forum for open and critical discussions on transatlantic legal issues. As times evolve, so does DAJV – embracing its role as a dynamic network of legal professionals across all career stages and fields of law. We connect European and American lawyers, facilitating meaningful exchanges both in Europe and the United States. This year marks a special milestone, and we invite everyone to join us in celebrating 50 years of DAJV at our grand anniversary event on June 26 and 27 in Berlin. Everyone is welcome – be part of our network!”
Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Thomas Pfeiffer, Chairman of the DAJV
The History of the German-American Lawyers' Association
Seeing an opportunity to expand horizons and exchange, one US-American and twelve young German lawyers founded the German-American Lawyers’ Association (DAJV) in 1975 in the then German capital of Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia. Today, with members now numbering over 2,500, the DAJV continues its non-profit network to the benefit of everyone from Bonn, 50 years later.
